The Challenge
Our client, located on a busy business park, came to Soft Top Surfacing looking to improve an underused outdoor area. The space a patch of worn-out grass, wasn’t serving any real purpose. It would get muddy in wet weather, was hard to maintain, and certainly wasn’t the kind of place that encouraged staff to step outside and take a break.
They wanted to create a proper outdoor breakout space for their staff. Something low-maintenance, clean, and visually appealing that would encourage people to make the most of their outdoor time during the workday.
What We Delivered
We began by removing the existing grass and preparing the area with all necessary groundwork. Once the base was complete and level, we installed 90m² of high-quality block paving in a detailed and intricate design.
Block paving was the perfect choice for this project. It’s durable, easy to maintain, and offers a premium finish that immediately lifts the look of any commercial outdoor space. The pattern we laid added character and made the area feel like a well-planned extension of the workplace rather than an afterthought.
To bring the space to life, we also installed planters and seating directly onto the paved surface. These elements not only added visual interest and a touch of greenery but also gave staff a practical, comfortable place to sit and unwind during their breaks.
The Outcome
The transformation was impressive. What had been a plain, patchy bit of grass is now a clean, modern and fully functional staff outdoor area. The block paving gives it a sharp, professional look, and the addition of planters and seating makes the space both practical and inviting.
