Heatherley Primary School in Mansfield approached us to address issues with their existing outdoor play area. The school surface had become uneven and worn, posing safety concerns for the children. The school’s goal was to revitalise the space, ensuring it met current safety standards and provided an engaging environment for students.

Our Approach
Our team began by removing the outdated artificial grass, existing play equipment, and the underlying rubber sub-base. All materials were responsibly disposed of at a registered landfill, adhering to environmental regulations.
We then installed a new regulating layer composed of base rubber and binder, creating a stable and durable foundation. To meet safety requirements, especially concerning fall heights from play equipment, we applied a wet pour rubber surface in a vibrant green and black mix. This choice not only increased the area’s aesthetic appeal but also provided a cushioned, non-slip surface suitable for active play.

Results
The project was completed on schedule and within the allocated budget. The transformed play area now offers a safe, attractive, and functional space for children to enjoy. The new playground surfacing complies with all relevant safety standards, giving staff and parents peace of mind.
